CIC set about refurbishing the interior of the property, replacing fixtures and fittings, and installing a new commercial kitchen. All timber floors were sanded, repaired and re-sealed, and new tiles were fitted by the bar area. While redecorating the toilets, CIC also installed panels and a Victorian style door to separate them from the main bar area. Embracing the building’s former Edwardian glory, and creating the sought-after botanical look, CIC redecorated the interior of the pub in the style of an elegant gin palace, resplendent of the era. Dark fixtures and fittings and faux plants completed the look. CIC also managed all exterior works to restore the entire outside seating area which now features a mural of the old docks. The exterior of The Punch Hotel was also cleaned and restored. With the ability to seat up to 100 people, the back gardens of the pub were rarely used so CIC painted an exterior wall, removed vegetation, fully overhauled, and cleaned the guttering and repaired and painted all exterior timber. Wherever possible, CIC use local contractors when working on site and called upon the services of a Hull company to repair and restore a stained-glass window in the pub.
