Work began on 6th January 2025, and Woodbridge created temporary heated outdoor member facilities to enable the work to be carried out in one phase. From the outset, CIC collaborated with designers and structural engineers to transform the dated and disjointed clubhouse into a modern, cohesive space. Early in the project, several structural challenges emerged. A raised step within a corridor, originally planned for removal, was found to be a complex block-and-beam structure. CIC creatively repurposed it as a feature within the main bar. Hidden columns were also uncovered and integrated into the design, allowing the open-plan layout to be preserved.
A key enhancement was the installation of a discreet accessibility lift, replacing the outdated stair lift and significantly improving access without compromising space. The old heating system was completely removed and new energy-efficient radiators and air conditioning installed across hospitality areas. The kitchen was reconfigured from three separate rooms into a single open-plan layout, greatly improving usability for staff. Electrical systems were upgraded throughout, and a bespoke bar—running the full length of the hospitality space—was constructed on site, bringing the space together and unifying previously separate areas. The on-site contruction of the bar also allowed full visibility for the client to review progress. Finally, the entire interior, previously stuck in a dated 1980s style, was reimagined with sleek, contemporary décor. CIC provided regular progress and cost updates, ensuring transparency and confidence throughout the project.
