CIC were tasked with ‘thinking outside the box’ throughout the refurbishment of The Dragoon. As result, the newly refurbished site has achieved substantial results for the owners.
A significant layout flaw of The Dragoon was the positioning of the men’s toilet block. Located immediately at the entrance of the pub, the toilets created a barrier between the public and the entire bar area. CIC undertook structural work to relocate the block, to create an open plan bar and dining space. Removing the walls, CIC established that extensive steel work was required to ensure the project was completed accurately. Within the new gents toilets they installed an environmentally friendly solution of waterless urinals. Lowering water costs by 80% per year, each waterless urinal annually saves 20,000 to 45,000 gallons of water.
An additional disabled toilet was created, while the ladies were refurbished, and the rest of the pub received new electrics, flooring, and exterior and interior redecoration. Identifying a blank wall space in the bar area, CIC added a stencilled mural to this wall which was an immediate hit.
