Winning the tender, CIC began work on site in July 2020. Part of the first phase of interior works saw the conversion of a rarely used TV lounge and meeting space into a golf swing room. Not only would this new facility provide an additional service for members, to virtually practice their swing on globally renowned courses, but provide the golf club with a new revenue stream. CIC, applying its two decades of experience and ability in collaborating with suppliers, provided cost saving advice to the golf club during the development of the swing room as the ceiling needed to be raised. Due to the high cost of external scaffolding, CIC worked closely with the structural engineer to create a solution which would enable the swing room to be efficiently constructed with the addition of steel works from the inside, saving the client the considerable scaffolding costs. Internal works also included the installation of new lighting and floor coverings, the redecoration of existing areas and refurbishing the corridors. Key to opening up the space was the repositioning of the gent’s toilets from the middle of the club to an old meeting room. Drawing on its wealth of knowledge in renovating bars and restaurants, CIC also advised the Club to remodel the back bars within the club lounge to improve the aesthetics and the overall customer experience, while enabling the club to upsell products. The proximity of the function space used regularly for weddings, to the members area could often cause noise issues. To remedy this, CIC improved the audibility within the function space by introducing acoustic folding doors behind the bar servery, and replacing the existing doors to ensure any noise was kept to a minimum.
Due to the success of the first two phases, CIC were immediately awarded the third, exterior phase of the refurbishment, including the renovation of an existing terrace overlooking the golf course.
