Is Instagram your biggest influencer?

Don’t underestimate the power of Instagram. In today’s digital age, hotel marketing is evolving rapidly. Influencers have become key players in hospitality marketing worldwide with more travellers seeking inspiration from platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. A survey by Big 7 Media revealed that 61% of people have booked a stay at a hotel after seeing it on their Instagram feed. This statistic emphasises the importance of visual appeal in converting casual browsers into guests.

The power of creating visually captivating spaces is evident in the success stories of hotels that have embraced social media marketing. One such example is our collaboration with McMullen & Sons Ltd on refurbishing The Peahen in St Albans. This extensive project involved transforming both the interior and exterior of the establishment while the pub remained open for business. From enhancing the original features to creating an Instagram-worthy arch in the garden, the results are truly stunning.

The refurbishment at The Peahen included a meticulous overhaul of the garden, with the addition of a new outdoor bar, gazebo, lighting, and even an astro-turfed seating area. Inside, the space underwent major repairs and updates, such as fitting a new copper sheet to the bar, adding sleek shelving and lighting in the back bar, and refinishing the timber floors. The trade areas were beautifully decorated and wallpapered, with new Altro flooring laid in the bar area.

This transformation highlights the significant impact that thoughtful renovations can have on a venue’s appeal. However, a full refurbishment isn’t always necessary to create a visually engaging environment. Simple modifications, like introducing new soft furnishings or installing softer lighting, can make a remarkable difference. The bathroom selfie is a trend that can’t be ignored, so enhancing restroom aesthetics with framed pictures or vibrant wallpaper can elevate the guest experience. During a project at The Dragoon in Brampton, we created a stencilled mural that became a hit with patrons, proving that creativity in design can lead to increased engagement.

In a world where the demand for “Instagrammable” moments continues to rise, hotels and restaurants must ensure their décor and surroundings are visually pleasing. Collaborating with design agencies can help bring these visual concepts to life, as we’ve done on numerous occasions. By investing in aesthetics, hospitality businesses can tap into the power of social media, engaging with both current and prospective customers.

By creating spaces that are both enticing and shareable, hospitality businesses can harness the power of social media to drive success in an increasingly digital world.
