Record visitor numbers expected

According to Visit Britain, the UK is on the brink of a major resurgence of its tourism with an estimated forecast of 35.1 million inbound visitors to the UK – 18% higher than in 2022.

London is apparently the most searched for summer destination for US travellers, while the West Midlands is welcoming an unprecedented number of visitors following the Commonwealth Games. The King’s Coronation will have certainly provided a significant draw for many overseas visitors fascinated by the UK’s history and heritage.

By all accounts, hotel bookings across the UK have surged this summer as potentially fuelled by the cost of living crisis and last year’s airport chaos, Britons’ enthusiasm for staycations is showing no signs of abating. There are thousands of hotels across the UK, and no matter how great the service is, a hotel that is badly in need of renovation will deter a customer from making a repeat visit.

Hoteliers say there are three cycles in a hotel’s life: minor refurbishment, basic renovation, and complete renovation.

A minor refurbishment is usually repeated every three years and involves a refresh of décor and replacement of less durable furnishings and fittings such as carpets. Basic renovations are usually performed to change the physical layout and structure of a particular area within a hotel, for example creating an open-plan dining space and refitting a kitchen while a complete renovation includes the replacement of all furniture and lighting and the overhaul of all the main elements such as corridors, reception and function rooms, stairs, toilets, floors, and electrical systems.

We work with hotel chains and independent hotels across the country, supporting everything from minor refurbishments through to major renovations like The Clayton Hotel in Manchester, a significant renovation and one of the largest in our history.
