Repurposing space to counteract COVID restrictions
With COVID restrictions reducing the amount of people pubs can have inside, space is at a premium. For Oakman Inns we repurposed an underutilised function room in this busy 18th century pub with letting rooms to create a new sophisticated bar area upstairs with table service for 40 people. Graham Greene the author is reported to have penned some of his works in the former function room, so the aesthetics of the room were designed to reflect its literary history.
The works included some stud walling to create a new separate area and the installation of a new bar and python. Real oak panels were added to the walls to create a “library” feel to reflect the rooms history. We repolished the floor, decorated and refurbished the toilets as well.
