Making small changes as the road to net zero intensifies

With COP27 all over the media, climate change and net zero has never been a hotter topic.

Only last month, we read reports that real estate investor and developer, Lamington Group are planning to open three new net zero room2 hometels in York, Glasgow, and Manchester. This will surely create a benchmark in sustainable hotels and reflect a new generation of properties catering to not only the incoming net zero laws but the sustainable consumer. As part of their commitment to creating these net zero properties, Lamington Group has announced that they will use recycled and reclaimed materials to create homely environments and that while sustainable, they won’t be sacrificing style, convenience, or comfort. This surely projects an important message. While news of net zero and sustainable hotels is increasing, to some it may still seem advanced and something from a hotel of the future and not today. However, hospitality establishments can already start to make small incremental changes to their interiors to get ahead of the game in the sustainability stakes.

There are many businesses popping up offering modern and contemporary recycled furniture designs made using reclaimed items from bathtubs to recycled coke cans! Investing slowly and working with local contractors and tradespeople who can advise you is the way forward and will enable you to keep ahead as the road to net zero heats up.
