Community pubs supported by launch of Proper Pubs

Community pubs remain an important part of our way of life and the news that Hawthorn, following its acquirement by Admiral Taverns, is to launch an operator managed platform called Proper Pubs will be welcomed by local communities. For many, a local pub is a lifeline, it provides a space for a community to gather and feel connected, something which has been greatly missed during the lockdowns and restrictions of the pandemic.

Not only will the Proper Pubs division support Hawthorn’s new corporate charity partner, Chasing the Stigma, to enable clear pathways to mental health care, but operators will have the chance to become Ambassadors of Hope to provide support to pub goers and raise funds to support local initiatives.

During the pandemic, up to six pubs a week were closing their doors. The fact that many communities fought to keep their locals open, with funding through programmes such as More Than  A Pub, is demonstrative of how the British pub represents something profound within a community.

CIC continue to work with Hawthorn, refurbishing community pubs to help communities stay connected.  CIC doing what we do best!
