We continue to support young people looking for their first role

Coinciding with National Apprenticeship Week (7-13 February) we have announced the appointment of two apprentices, as part of our commitment to investing in young talent and growing our team.

Both Jack Reynolds, 19, and Lucy Whitlock, 17, are studying towards a Business Administrator Apprenticeship Level 3 at Bedford College.

With a successful track record of hiring apprentices, CIC has created a path for both Jack and Lucy to ensure they are maximising the opportunity, enabling them to work within areas of the business which specifically interests them.

For Jack, this has meant a focus on marketing, and he is working closely with the commercial team, while Lucy is currently getting an introduction to the operations of the business.

“Working with an SME like CIC enables us to get a great understanding of the different departments within a business,” Jack comments who joined CIC back in August 2021 for a short spell of work experience before he took the apprentice route.

Lucy adds: “Working on general administration skills is providing me with a good foundation and I hope to be able to transfer these skills as I learn from and support other departments within CIC.”

As apprentices, both Jack and Lucy are benefiting from the opportunity to learn skills on the job, gain nationally-recognised qualifications and earn a salary. In addition, as Jack points out, it provides them with an excellent understanding of working life: “We are working five days a week, and our college work takes up 20% of this time. Taking an apprentice route is great for getting you into a good structure while enhancing your work ethic. It’s great experience.”

CIC has long been a supporter of apprentices and providing opportunities for work experience students who have since gone on to become integral members of the team.

Our MD Andy Teague comments“We are passionate about investing in young people and growing our team. We have always believed in the concept of “growing our own” and fully support the national apprenticeship scheme as a proven way of encouraging young people into our business. We are delighted to have both Jack and Lucy on board and look forward to working with them to carve out their own careers within CIC.”
